Unvented Cylinder Upgrade in Bath

The Brief

A family home in Bath with two bathrooms was struggling with weak, unreliable hot water. With showers and taps often competing for supply, they wanted a stronger, more dependable system that could keep up with the whole household. We were asked to upgrade them to an unvented hot water cylinder, sized correctly for their daily demand and installed to G3 standard, so every outlet enjoys proper mains-pressure hot water.

What We Did

Our work included:

• Correctly sizing the cylinder: We assessed the household's hot water demand across both bathrooms and the kitchen, then specified a cylinder sized to deliver plenty of hot water without running short at busy times.
• G3 unvented cylinder installation: The new unvented hot water cylinder was installed to G3 standard by a fully qualified engineer, removing the need for a loft tank and freeing up space.
• Fitting all safety controls: Every required safety device, including the expansion vessel, pressure relief and temperature controls, was fitted and set correctly to keep the system safe and compliant.
• Precision pipework: All connections and pipework were run cleanly and neatly, giving a tidy, professional finish that is easy to service in future.
• Mains-pressure balancing: The system was set up to deliver strong, even hot water to every tap and shower, so multiple outlets can be used at once without a drop in performance.
• Testing and handover: The full system was pressure tested and checked before handover, with the family shown how everything works and what to expect from their new hot water.

The Result

The home now enjoys excellent, reliable mains-pressure hot water throughout. Showers are powerful, taps fill quickly, and the household can run more than one outlet at the same time without losing performance. With the loft tank gone and a correctly sized cylinder in place, the family has a system that is safe, efficient and ready for everyday life.
